Two more schools join Jenks and Booker T

Another two Oklahoma high schools are in trouble with using an ineligible player. This time it is 2A Jones Longhorns that have been hit hard like Booker T. Washington because it is going to cause them from not playing in the play-offs.

Jones must now forfeit six wins — including five district wins. Jones was 7-2 overall and 6-0 in District 2A-2 and had won the district, but now are out of the play-offs.

Jones is appealling the decision to the OSSAA Board who meets Wednesday.

Sand Springs must forfeit their win against Claremore that was played last month.

Sandites coach Dustin Kinard said the player was ineligible because of a lack of proper paperwork after the player moved into the Sand Springs district, not because of academic or recruiting reasons.

Sand Springs’ forfeit will lift Claremore into the playoffs as the fourth and final qualifier from District 6A-3 and eliminate the Sandites and Muskogee from playoff contention. Claremore will face second-ranked Union in the first round of the playoffs. Before the forfeit, the Zebras’ playoff hopes were slim and Muskogee appeared to have the best chance of finishing fourth.

Jenks was punished earlier this year for using an ineligible player last year and had to vacate their 2008 wins along with the state runner-up trophy.

The OSSAA was brought aware of the situations by an anonymous e-mail to the association about Jenks and Jones.

The possible player that was being investigated is someone who played at Carl Albert as a sophomore last year.
