Ryan BIlyeu opens up college career

Ryan Bilyeu, a 2009 Guthrie graduate, competed in his first collegiate wrestling event this past weekend. Bilyeu finished second in state last year behind Carl Albert's Jared Porter, who signed with Central Michigan yesterday.

Bilyeu wrestles and attends school at The United States Military Prep School. Here is the write up from the National Collegiate Wrestling Association on his first college event on November 7th.

At 149, USMAPS had two wrestlers, Ryan Bilyeu and Spencer Breeden. Breeden wrestled a tough first round versus Michael Slabinski, Gettysburg, who he lost by fall in the third period.

Bilyeu won his first round versus Matt Ellery, Wilkes University 5-2. Then in his second round, drew the number two seed Franklin Davis, Kings College. In this match, Bilyeu lost by a score of 5-2. Both wrestlers then had to compete with each other. In this contest, Bilyeu came up on top by a close match with a score of 6-2. Bilyeu then won by tech fall over Pat Gibson, Muhlenberg.

Next, Bilyeu then won by decision over Tom Manning, Scranton University 6-4. Lastly, Bilyeu wrestled Joey Walters of Army JV and was beaten by decision 3-1.
